Spring break has officially started. I had a strange dream. I was hitting balls out of a fenced in pen...there were all sorts, but I was hitting them none the less. There was a man who was missing a tooth from the top and the bottom of his jaw. The neighborhood was run down, and shady. There was a motel 6. My ex-was there. We were talking about something. Some one was offering me a scholarship to stay, but I wouldn't have any where to live. Someone was yelling at that person. There were employers there. My ex told me I should move. It was true. He said "I'm not the one you want." It was weird hearing him say that. I wondered if it was true. I mean, I wondered if it was true the whole time. But he was calm and he was smiling. And I felt that it was true. There was a boy, he pissed me off...I hit his arm with a bat. The bat I was hitting balls with, but these things were more like a club. It hurt him, but it wasn't enough to break his arm.
The dream was told out of order. The last thing that happened was the bit about the scholarship, and there was this bearded man telling something sad about this child living at the motel 6.
I wonder if it's just easy to get used to a certain way of living, and that's the danger. I don't mind how I live. I'm actually quite happy, but there are people who want me to move.
Anyways, dreams are dreams! Today is a day for another deadline. Linear Algebra time! I will try and get at least two quizzes out of the way.

Tensors R^3 Cross product...actually doesn't make that much sense.

Server Up
I've had kind of a long night. I took my vector geometry test, and I scored a decent score...Damn triangles...I will have to ask around about it later. I'm going to try practicing a bit more when I'm not so tired. I had an AWC meeting. It was awesome, should have blogged about it then and there...now I'm tired. Did my homework...feel awesome, but again tired. Now starting bug report. Started it earlier, but now it's time to actually put it to paper! Ah~ Oh! I almost forgot the reason I started this post. Naked alarm clock is back up. It was down since yesterday at least. It made me feel frantic, kind of angry, worried...A whole gamut of negative emotion. I <3 Naked alarmclock.

METHOD – 25 points possible
Center at top of page the word “Method”
Left justified italicize the word “Participants”
Describe participants – who, how many, how selected, demographic characteristics if appropriate
Left justified italicize the word “Materials”
Describe materials – apparatus, measures, etc.
Left justified italicize the word “Design and Procedure”
Describe procedure – how will the data be collected
Describe how participants will move through the study (e.g., participants will review the informed consent page, they will fill out measure X, Y, & Z…)
May want to include the factorial design if experiment (e.g., 2 X 3)
Keep in mind that the method should provide enough detail for other researchers to replicate the study
Also include how you plan to analyze your data (e.g., ANOVA, t-tests, etc.)

- I will inspect the recycling bins to and the trash cans to check:
- to see if the correct items were properly placed
- the amount of misplaced items (trash in recycling and vice versa)
- the types of recycling (bottles vs. cans vs. plastic)
- These inspections will be held between the three rooms to determine if there is a discrepancy between on or all rooms. (My initial observations were based on one room, which may just lend itself to being a "problem" room.)
- Inspections will be held during different times of the day, for two weeks straight.
- I plan on limiting my sampling to business hours.
- Each sample instance consists of all three rooms.
- Only three samples will be taken on any given day.
- Efforts will be made to observe the trash/recycling when no one is around.
- Ideally, I can just collect the bags for analysis later on.
- If it's not possible to observe w/o the presence of others, a camera can be used to take a snapshot for a "best estimate." (Perhaps this is ideal too.)
- Once the data is collected, it will be entered into as spreadsheet
Describe how participants will move through the study (e.g., participants will review the informed consent page, they will fill out measure X, Y, & Z…)
- Participants are "passive" players in this study, as such, I expect them to move naturally w/o the awareness of my presence.
May want to include the factorial design if experiment (e.g., 2 X 3)
- I have no idea what this is.
Keep in mind that the method should provide enough detail for other researchers to replicate the study
Also include how you plan to analyze your data (e.g., ANOVA, t-tests, etc.)
Exploratory data analysis will be used to help me develop my hypothesis further.
Terror Management Theory...Moved to Thursday! Now for Impression Management
Review.

Impression management. Attempt to create and maintain desired identities.
Why do we do it?
Power enhancement
- ingratiation: flattery
- self-promotion: competence
- intimidation: negative, but effective
- supplication: petition
- exemplification: morally worthy (Ghandi)
- influencing the mirror: induce other people to treat you the way you want to be seen, thus turning it into personal truth
When do we do it?
Impression motivation (Leary & Kowalski)
- Value of goals
- Goal relevance
- Discrepancy between desired & current image
On stage, or off? "Back regions"
How do we do it?
Claims
- can be suspect
- discounting principle
- ingratiator's dilemma
- Clothes; Danny was wearing a red cap, with a big blue P stroked in white.
- Cars
- Beer
- "eating lightly" as femininity
- "We won!" (Although, we really didn't do anything...it was the team.)
- Intrapersonal
- self concept
- desired/undesired images
- Interpersonal
- role constraints
- target values & preferenes
- current & potential social image
- We all do! (duh)
- But some more than others...
- Self-monitoring (quiz)
- high: Salespeople, politicians, lawyers, teachers, diplomats, conflict manager
- Dating behaviors
- high > more one night stands
- Responsiveness to ads
- high: image
- low: content
- For social networking: F/B as vehicle of IM?
Late!
I woke up late. I wanted to get up around 11, and I ended up getting up around...now. Anyways, I'm pretty happy with the changes that I made to my pc. I haven't tried using ArtRage or Dog Waffle yet, but if those programs turn out to be a problem, I'll but 4 gigs of RAM. One might think that the RAM has nothing to do with how hot a laptop gets, but Toshi just didn't seem to like his last configuration. Right now he's running cool for a change. He's been cool since I've changed the RAM. I also opened up the keyboard and cleaned up a bit...not as much to clean as I thought.
The fan is running right now, but it's not a heater! So either Toshi likes being @ 2 gigs, or he takes his RAM evenly. Previously, he had 1 stick of 1 GB RAM and 1 stick of 2 GB RAM. Hm...I feel like there's a laptop I can cannibalize...Where's Hideki?

RAM
Today, for some reason, I felt compelled to disassemble my eeepc (900). However, I think the machine naturally lends itself to that sort of compulsion. I didn't do anything major. I fixed the "k" key, and I'm glad I didn't pay a lot of money to buy a new keyboard! I also switched out the ram between eee, and Toshi. So now they both have 2 gb of ram, with no ill effect. (Actually, eee is a bit more chipper now, but I haven't noticed any performance loss in Toshi yet.)
The sun is coming out, so I'll take this chance to go to bed. I slept a bit earlier, and I've taken my meds. I should be good to go in the morning. I still have to take my quiz, but, one thing at time! (I'm glad I at least took out the trash.)

Library
Today I paid off my fees. I'm glad I bought a replacement book...I wasn't in the mood to pay nearly a hundred dollars in fees. Instead I paid about half that amount including the cost of the replacement. So now I've got a clean start! (I get my privileges back once the fees drop below $20, but it was just easier to pay the whole lot then.)
SO today I checked out some books on insects and mushrooms! If this Miller is the same late Dr. Miller that Dr. Schmale is always raving about, I'll be happy. Although this particular book is an older edition, I think it's quite interesting! (It's also quite heavy.) I wonder how much it would have cost to purchase this book. The make is around the 70's, and it is just full of pictures! A rather costly process, I'm sure.
The insect books are interesting too. One deals with insects and humans specifically. Both are insect appreciation books. Once I take my test, I plan on reading them! They are short so hopefully, they don't take too long to get through.

Maths
I went to office hours yesterday! I saw Idir, and I had asked for his help since I had missed class last week. It looks like they were going over, generally, what a vector is, the components of a vector, and how to calculate the unit vector...Which I feel like I can do! Let's see if the Empo agrees with me. I'm going to try and take the practice quiz very shortly...I've got a lot of things to do before Spring break...and even during Spring break, I've got many more things to do.
Anyways, during office hours, I talked to Idir about his research. It has something to do with solving the hyperbolic problem. If you ask me, I'm not really sure what that is...but I feel like it's the form, not the shape that is important. Also, there were some interesting concepts, like error...how do you calculate error when you don't have the exact value to compare? There were a lot of neat and interesting symbols. I wonder when I'll be able to read them!

FUNGAL KNOWLEDGE REVIEW!!!
It's rather late, and I've been reviewing for the good part of the weekend. There are seven fungi of the day, to my knowledge, and I've spent a good chunk of time making a power point for that.. (Photo editing eats up a lot of my life!) I've decided to post some photos here of relevant (debatable?) photos of the lectures since the last test. Reiew, review, review...
